Colorado Distribution: Boreal toads can be found in high-elevation lakes, ponds, and streams. .

Conservation Status: 
Designated as state Endangered in Colorado.  Please click here for Colorado regulations regarding this species (see Article I, specifically number 6).  NatureServe rank: G4 (Apparently Secure), S1 (Critically Imperiled).  This species is particularly susceptible to Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis (Bd), a fungus that can infect anurans at several life stages. They have been extirpated from known historic sites in New Mexico, and locally from sites in Colorado and Wyoming.
